I am in the process of upgrading to Office 365 from Live@edu. I intend to utilise dircync to sync local AD objects to Office 365 and use ADFS for Federation.
All of my user objects are in one folder. My question is this. When I run dirsync I presume that I will get synchronization errors for all the upgraded users as they will already exist in Office 365. I currently have a test environment and this is what happens when I manually create a user in the Office 365 portal, then create the user in AD and run dirsync. The federation bit works fine.
Is there a way to “match” up the objects in Office 365 and the local AD or is this something I will just have to put up with?
